I'm thrilled to introduce our first Spotlight artist, Roben-Marie Smith! Located in Florida, Roben-Marie is a mixed-media, collage, and book artist whose passion for life is evident in her art journals, collage pieces and photography. I've been a regular visitor at Roben-Marie's blog (and lover of her work) for many months, and I was excited to see her artwork featured recently in the Jan/Feb 2008 issue of Somerset Studio along with two sheets of Artist's Paper she designed -- a double treat!
If you're a collector of beautiful art books, you can find Roben-Marie's book Only When I'm Found Can I Be Me here, and if you're a stamp-lover, Roben-Marie designs her own line of art stamps for her online store Paperbag Studios.
On Roben-Marie's blog, she shares not only her works of art, but also journal prompts, quotes, tutorials, and a variety of photos available to use in your projects. (Her "Free Goods" page takes a while to download, but it's well worth the wait!)
This is an example of how you could use one of Roben-Marie's photos. I downloaded this beautiful door photo (that she photographed in St. Augustine) and placed it in the background. I reduced it's opacity to 80%, added a woven texture and a frame. (The other elements used were all freebies from the links found in the right side-bar!)
Another great reason to head on over to Roben-Marie's blog right now ... she's offering a drawing for one of her new rubber stamp sheets called Scrap & Journal Tools -- these new stamps aren't even available yet, nor are they on the website, so be one of the first to own this assortment of stamps! And get this ... the drawing is ONLY for readers of ScrapBuzz! How cool is that?
To enter the drawing, visit Roben-Marie's blog -- take some time to browse around all she has to offer (including the link to her stamp store Paperbag Studios) and then leave a comment on the ScrapBuzz post she has on her. In your comment list your favorite art supply! Roben-Marie will do the drawing on Noon, Sat. March 1st and I'll announce the winner here!
Thank you, Roben-Marie!
